The Power of a Guiding Hand

“Coaching is not about telling people what to do. It’s about asking the right questions and helping them find the answers themselves.” – Amanda Gore

The most powerful thing I’ve done for my writing career and for myself was to seek out people further along on the journey to mentor me.

Joining a writer’s organization, finding a critique group, and investing in a writing coach allowed me to grow exponentially in the craft and business of writing in just a few short years.

But it was my experience with a life-coach and mentor that helped me find the tools to regulate myself so I could actually get the writing done.

As I did my own work, I realized many of my writer friends and coaching clients were stuck in the creative process for the same reasons.

It wasn’t that they lacked the skills to craft story, it was that their inner critic whispered limiting and self-defeating stories that consumed their time, exhausted their energy, stole their attention, and occupied their creative space.

As I began combining elements of life coaching with my story coaching, I also found deeper connections between my clients’ struggles in story and their inner lives.

An author who struggled with creating vivid setting, lived more in their head than the real world, and lacked a sense of place and sensory awareness.

An older writer who lived alone struggled with dialogue. When asked to listen to other conversations and focus on the subtext, she confided she didn’t have regular social interactions.

By addressing the life issues, they found their writing grew richer and their thoughts, feelings, and actions shifted to support their identity as a storyteller.

Transform Your Creative Life in 30 Days
This personalized offering is a handcrafted blend of immediate relief and long-term nourishment for your time, energy, attention, and space — a lovingly brewed tonic for the storyteller’s soul.

Is Your Storytelling Practice Wilting?

Your creative garden might be suffering from:
* Inconsistent Productivity – Like over-watering a plant, forcing daily output can drown your process. Storytellers who shift to seasonal and energy-based rhythms report higher output and joy.
* Focus Challenges – Much like steeping tea, attention flourishes when we slow down. Pre-work rituals infused with somatic practices help storytellers settle their minds and concentrate on the page.
* Messy Creative Spaces – A disorganized apothecary can’t function. Clients who clear their space with intention say their creative shelves stay organized even a month later.
* Burnout Cycles – Just as there are seasons for growing and resting, storytellers thrive when they follow their natural energy.
* A Harsh Inner Critic – With the remedy of self-compassion, the bitterness softens. Storytellers notice a kinder internal dialogue after nurturing their creative roots.

What if your creative challenges aren’t weeds to uproot, but wild wisdom to be honored?

    What Others Are Saying

“For the first time, I can share my work-in-progress with others without paralyzing anxiety. I’ve joined a writing group where I contribute regularly, have submitted three short pieces for publication in the past month, and can discuss my creative challenges openly without feeling like an impostor. The constant internal critic questioning whether I’m a ‘‘real writer’’ has quieted, replaced by consistent showing up and engagement with my craft between flares.” -Rebecca M.

“I can now recognize the early physical signals of creative burnout before I crash. Just last week, I noticed tension building in my shoulders and paused to do a 5 minute somatic reset instead of pushing through. Then I wrote one of my best scenes yet.” -Amanda R.

“I used to force myself to get to my desk to write. Giving myself permission to work from my recliner, changing up my lighting, and having my tools at hand has been life changing. I can write for an hour before the fatigue or pain creeps in. The moment it does, I don’t beat myself up for stopping my work to take care of myself, because I know it means that I won’t be down for days with rebound pain.” -Emily P.

“This is the first time my creativity has felt like an ally, not a threat to my health.” -Tammy D.

“These tools work, plain and simple! I got more writing done in three months than the last two years combined. Learning I needed a visual tracking system, and breaking big projects into smaller pieces my ADHD brain can actually handle has been transformational. I used to get stuck in hyperfocus and write for hours. Then feel like I’ve been hit by a truck afterward and go weeks without writing. Now I’ve got reminders that tell me when to take a break, and they work. I actually know how long things take me now. So deadlines aren’t a guessing game anymore.” -Julie S.
